Favorite thing to do in the area...

I love hiking and getting outdoors! My dog, Luca, and I often get out and explore the trails together. The Blue Ridge Parkway has a lot of amazing sites and trails as well as the local area of Banner Elk! Luca is a big fan of chasing leaves and sniffing EVERY bush.

Why I chose Lees-McRae...

I was never interested in large schools, and the small community of Lees-McRae is exactly what I was looking for. I know everyone’s names, I’m close with my professors, and even the surrounding area and the town of Banner Elk is something comforting and quaint. Because everyone knows everyone, I felt comfortable with the idea of asking for help and reaching out to faculty and staff if I ever needed anything.

Most memorable Lees-McRae experience...

Honestly, getting a work-study with the library. I adore the library staff and cannot express how much they mean to me. Something special about our library is that it’s a talking library which means conversation and social activity is encouraged. (Jess, Caleb, Ramona, & Katie — this one’s for you!)

My advice to students searching for a college...

is to go somewhere you’ve fallen in-love with. Whether it’s a big or small school, mountainous or beach-y, go somewhere that makes YOU happy.
